Indiana Sports Corp distributes 40,000 pieces of sports equipment

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – More than 100 organizations working with kids were at Bankers Life Fieldhouse Thursday to pick up free sports equipment.

It’s part of the Geared for Health event through the Indiana Sports Corp.

The program collects new and gently-used donated sports equipment and distributes it to youth organizations, sports leagues and sports clubs.

This year more than 40,000 pieces of sports equipment were given to groups in need, such as traditional sports gear and playground equipment.

Any organization that wanted free equipment had to register in August.
