INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Here’s a look at Monday’s business headlines.
Twitter the hack that compromised the accounts of some of its most high-profile users targeted 130 people. The hackers were able to reset the passwords of 45 of those accounts.
The San Francisco-based company said in a blog post Saturday that for up to eight of these accounts the attackers also downloaded the account’s information through the “your Twitter Data” tool. None of the eight were verified accounts, Twitters said, adding that it is contacting the owners of the affected accounts.
Power outages
With a record number of people working from home, combined with high unemployment amid the summer heat in the U.S. There could be a heightened risk of power outages, experts say, despite the overall decrease in power consumption across the country.
At issue are residential grids that are not designed for the sustained increase in power demand. The issue was examined in a report by the Earth Institute at Columbia University.
Back to college
Thousands of college students won’t be going back to their dorms this fall, and it could be bad news for Bed, Bath and Beyond and Staples.
There’s still a lot of uncertainty about how colleges will operate come fall.
That uncertainty could have repercussions for the retailers that sell to college students needing to stock up on clothes, TVs, furniture, notebooks and more.
Home prices
The national median home price rose 2.8% year over year to an all-time high of $311,000 in June, according to a new report from Refin.
The largest gains in sales were concentrated in Texas, Oklahoma and Louisana.
