IMPD arrests man in connection to multiple business robberies
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A man has been arrested in connection to a number of business robberies, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
IMPD said 51-year-old Damon Smithson was arrested just after midnight on Aug. 6.
Police said officers conducted a traffic stop at I-465 and the Pendelton Pike ramp and that information gathered during the stop led to a search warrant for the vehicle.
During the search of that vehicle, officers found evidence in the car which linked Smithson to a recent robbery, IMPD said.
IMPD’s Covert Robbery Unit continued investigating and obtained a search warrant for Smithson’s home. It was during the search of Smithson’s residence that evidence was discovered connecting him to a number of other robberies, including three separate robberies of the same gas station within a little over a month.
