Indiana launching arts, destination marketing grants

INDIANAPOLIS (Inside INdiana Business) — Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch is preparing to launch on Friday a $10 million grant program for Indiana’s arts and cultural sector during the coronavirus pandemic.

Plans for the funding, which comes from the federal CARES Act, were first announced by Crouch earlier this month.

In partnership with the Indiana Destination Development Corp. and the Indiana Arts Commission, Crouch’s office says the assistance will provide economic support to local organizations whose normal operations have been disrupted due to COVID-19.

“The arts and cultural sector adds vibrancy and depth to Hoosiers’ lives and is a significant factor in the health of Indiana’s tourism economy,” Crouch said. “We developed this program to assist and preserve the many Hoosier destinations, events and programs that help enhance the quality of life here in our great state.”

Crouch’s office says it will host a webinar on Monday to discuss the grant program and answer questions.

“Destination Marketing Organizations play a critical role in telling Indiana’s authentic story and promoting the quality of life assets that all Hoosiers enjoy,” said Elaine Bedel, IDDC’s chief executive officer. “These organizations are at the center of community life and are critical to the state’s economic recovery. We look forward to supporting their efforts through this grant program.”

Applications will be available beginning Friday and must be submitted by 4 p.m. on Sept. 8.
