DWD seeks additional unemployment assistance for Hoosiers

INDIANAPOLIS (Inside INdiana Business) — The Indiana Department of Workforce Development is seeking additional funding from the federal government to provide assistance for unemployed Hoosiers. The DWD says it has applied for the Lost Wages Assistance program, which could give an additional $300 a week to eligible individuals.

To be eligible for the assistance, the department says Hoosiers must already receive at least $100 under existing state or federal unemployment assistance programs.

“Claimants must continue filing a weekly voucher and meet eligibility requirements,” the department said.

If approved, the DWD says it plans to begin providing LWA funding within 3-4 weeks. The DWD says payments will be retroactive to Aug. 1.
