GOP US Rep. Rokita back on Indiana’s November ballot

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Republican U.S. Rep. Todd Rokita is back on Indiana’s November ballot after he withdrew his congressional candidacy last month in a bid to run for governor to replace Mike Pence.

Rokita was selected for the ballot during a Saturday caucus to fill the vacancy his withdrawal created in the 4th Congressional District. Precinct committeemen chose Rokita over three challengers, including the candidate he defeated in this year’s primaries.

Rokita’s Democratic challenger on the November ballot is John Dale of West Point.

Republican U.S. Rep. Susan Brooks is also attempting to get back on the November ballot during a caucus later Saturday. She also withdrew her candidacy last month to try to run for governor.

Republicans ultimately selected Lt. Gov. Eric Holcomb as the gubernatorial nominee against Democratic candidate John Gregg.
