Indy updates food assistance platform

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) – The city of Indianapolis has updated its Community Compass platform, a digital resource that connects Marion County residents with food assistance information and help. 

The city says app developers have provided updates to reach a broader audience and make the app more user-friendly such as Spanish translation, filtering, and feedback options.

The city partnered with Indy Hunger Network and Level Up Development to develop and launch the platform earlier this year.

“As many Marion County families continue to face challenges surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, food access is imperative” said Mayor Joe Hogsett. “Community Compass has been an important tool for local families, and we welcome these enhancements to expand that access.”

The city says the filtering function allows users to immediately identify food assistance locations that best meet their needs by sorting results based on distance from their location, zip code, or location hours.

With the feedback function, the city says users can now send responses and provide details, such as adding resources not currently included, correcting information, providing suggestions for additional features or feedback on technical issues.
