Shelby Cobra Roadster among cars selling for more than $1M at Mecum auction
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — At least five cars have sold for more than $1 million at Friday’s auto auction at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.
Mecum Auctions listed these sales on Twitter:
- A silver 1966 Shelby 427 Cobra Roadster sold for $2.2 million. The car was formerly part of the collection of Steven Juliano. The New York man died Sept. 24 at age 60 from pancreatic cancer. The car had been driven 21,026 miles.
- A 1967 Shelby 427 427 S/C Cobra, one of 27 produced that year, sold for $2.6 million.
- A 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda, one of 14 producer that year, sold for $1.8 million.
- The only factory Stage III 289 Street Cobra Roadster ever built sold for $1.6 million. It was built in 1964.
- A red 1971 Plymouth Cuda convertible with a black interior sold for $1.05 million. It also is part of the Juliano collection The car was one of 17 made and had been driven 21,026 miles.
Multicarbureted Mopar E-body convertibles of the early 1970s are among the most highly desired vehicles on the market today, Mecum said in an auction preview of the car.
Mecum CEO Dave Magers said as the show began Tuesday that he expected another Juliano vehicle, a 1967 Original Factory Shelby 427 S/C Cobra, will auction for more than $3.2 million.
The Mecum auction continues through Sunday at the State Fairgrounds.
