Program helping students get head start on higher education

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A new partnership in education is allowing Perry Meridian high schoolers to get a head start on higher education.

Leaders of Perry Meridian High School, the University of Indianapolis and Vincennes University made the announcement on Wednesday morning.

The “1+3 Program” gives students the opportunity to complete a bachelor’s degree with only three years of further study after high school.

“Our early college students will acquire a core transfer certificate, in other words the equivalent of one year of college. Then those students, they’ll be transcripted credits from Vincennes University. Those students will be direct-admitted into UIndy if that’s where they choose to go,” said Rolland Abraham Principal of Perry Meridian High School

All students are eligible to apply. However, the program specifically targets students who have the potential to succeed in college, but might not consider themselves suited for a traditional four-year experience.
