Fight at NW side store ends in 1 shot dead, 1 critical

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A man is dead and another man in critical condition after a fist fight inside an Indianapolis store led to a shooting Sunday, police said.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to the Indiana Discount Mall near the intersection of 34th Street and Lafayette Road at 5:50 p.m.

Police say two men got into a fist fight at the back of the store near the bathroom.

One pulled out a gun and shot the other man twice in the chest.

A third man saw what was happening, pulled out his own gun and shot the shooter in the head.

The original shooter died of his injuries.

The first man shot was taken to Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition.

Police say they are unsure what led to the fist fight.

The second shooter stayed on the scene and was fully cooperating with the investigation, police say. Both guns were recovered at the scene.
