WISH-TV medical expert Dr. Jerome Adams to testify on Capitol Hill about COVID-19
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — WISH-TV medical expert Dr. Jerome Adams is headed back to Capitol Hill Thursday morning. The former surgeon general is set to testify before the house select committee on COVID-19.
Doctor Adams says the focus will be the continued vaccine uncertainty in some areas of the country — and how to overcome it.
As of Thursday morning, the CDC shows more than 154 million people are fully vaccinated, that’s 46% of the u-s population. 54% of Americans have at least one shot.
Dr. Adams hopes community engagement will boost vaccine numbers.
“I think you’re gonna hear that we need more ground-level community engagement,” Dr. Adams said. “That you can fix decades of distrust from the national level. That we really need to engage with community groups, with pastors, with workplaces. That’s what I’m going to be talking about and what I hope to hear from the other people who will be testifying.”
The congressional hearing is set to begin at 9 a.m.
