Officials investigate apparent suicide at Shenandoah Middle School
HENRY COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – The Shenandoah Middle School was dismissed early on Wednesday due to an apparent suicide at the school, officials said.
According to the Henry County Sheriff, it appears a student committed suicide at the school early Wednesday morning. They say the incident is under investigation but it does appear to be a suicide.
Due to the situation Shenandoah Middle School dismissed students at noon.
Shenandoah School Corporation Superintendent, Ronald Green, made the following statement about the tragedy.
Shenandoah School Corporation did experience a student tragedy here this morning. Out of respect for the student and their family and out of respect and privacy for our other students, we ask the media to allow law enforcement to conduct their investigation
He went on to say that grief counselors will be on at the high school cafeteria beginning Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. They will also be made available to students Thursday.
