RecycleForce to break ground on new HQ

INDIANAPOLIS (Inside INdiana Business) — Indianapolis-based RecycleForce will Wednesday break ground on its new headquarters on the city’s east side. The nonprofit is building the more than 102,000-square-foot facility on the former RCA property at Sherman Park with plans to move in next fall.

RecycleForce says the expansion will allow it to double its capacity by recycling 12 million pounds of electronic waste annually. The nonprofit also provides transitional employment, training and support services to formerly incarcerated individuals.

In April, Indianapolis-based Meticulous Design + Architecture released designs for the facility, saying it would include 22,000 square feet of office space, a 5,000-square-foot loading dock, a 13,000-square-foot shredder room, 7,400 square feet for disassembly and a 57,000-square-foot area to house recycled materials.

The nonprofit says the facility is the first private development at the former RCA site, which is now owned by the city. RCA’s headquarters and manufacturing plant closed in 1995 and the building was demolished in 2017.

Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett, RecycleForce President Gregg Keesling will join other local and company officials for the groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday.
