3 found dead near I-465 along South Meridian Street
UPDATE: The Marion County Coroner’s Office has identified the victims as 22-year-old Michael James, 18-year-old Joseph Thomas and 17-year-old Abdulla Mubarak. The three died from gunshot wounds.
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Police are investigating after three people were found dead on the south side along South Meridian Street near Interstate 465 on Tuesday night.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said in an email shortly after 9 p.m. that at least two people died under “suspicious circumstances” in the 4400 block of South Meridian Street. Police at the scene later confirmed a third person had been found dead.
The first two bodies were found in a remote area by an off-duty officer checking a property just before 8 p.m., according to police. The third was found as police continued searching the property.
Officers are using ATVs to reach the crime scene.
Police are calling it a homicide investigation.
