Hamilton County leaders reject fire tower proposal

NOBLESVILLE, Ind (WISH) – Hamilton County leaders decided against funding a tool that local firefighters said they need.

Wednesday night, Hamilton County council rejected a plan that would have built a fire tower. The item was budgeted for more than $700,000.

Last month, council rejected a multi-million dollar public safety complex. Councilors proposed a smaller scale project, and added the fire tower item to the agenda.

Fishers Firefighters told WISH-TV they need the tower to train people using heat. Right now, they use abandoned homes, but aren’t able to fully simulate what firefighters will deal with.

The chief deputy auditor told WISH-TV Thursday, there was no discussion about adding this to any future agenda.
