SWAT called to disturbance in Columbus
COLUMBUS,Ind. (WISH) – Just after 6 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to reports of a disturbance.
After arriving on scene in the 900 block of Driftwood Avenue, police discovered a man threatening others inside a residence with a knife.
When several attempts to draw the suspect from the residence failed, Columbus Police Department Crisis Negotiators were eventually able to talk the suspect into coming out of the house.
The suspect, Nathaniel Ayers, 36, of Columbus, was taken into custody by the Columbus Police Department SWAT team.
No one was injured during the two hour standoff.Editor’s note: An earlier version of this story stated that dispatchers indicated that this was a police-involved shooting. CPD has since corrected that info.
