Pedestrian dies when hit by semitractor-trailer on I-65
WHITESTOWN, Ind. (WISH) — Just before 5:30 a.m. Thursday, a semitractor-trailer heading south on I-65 near the I-865 interchange hit a pedestrian who came out onto the roadway, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office says.
Martin Budimir, 38, of Indianapolis, died at the scene. The semi was driven by Althea Gaines, of Indianapolis.
The crash caused southbound I-65 lanes to be closed for several hours but have been reopened since 10 a.m.
Police believed alcohol and drugs were not contributing factors to the accident, and were still investigating.
