Vice President Harris to visit Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Vice President Kamala Harris is planning a trip to Indianapolis, the White House said Friday.

She’s scheduled to arrive on Monday.

Harris is expected to meet with state lawmakers to fight for reproductive rights. A U.S. Supreme Court decision on Jun 24 ended nearly five decades of constitutional protections for abortion. Some states have enacted bans on abortions since the ruling.

The vice president had a meeting on the same subject with 20 North Carolina state legislators on Thursday, according to the White House. She’s also had similar meetings with state legislators since July 8.

Monday’s visit by Harris will coincide with the start of the special session of the Indiana General Assembly. State legislators are expected to debate and pass abortion legislation.

The White House plans to later announce added details about the vice president’s visit.
