Indiana Fashion Week puts Hoosier style in the spotlight
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indiana Fashion Week, one of the most exciting weeks of the year for Hoosier fasionistas, has finally arrived!
Indiana Fashion Week, hosted by the Indiana Fashion Foundation, gives fashion fanatics and style professionals from Indiana and abroad the opportunity to meet, share ideas, and get to know the people, places, and organizations that embody the state’s fashion ecosystem.
Denisha Ferguson, founder and CEO of the Indiana Fashion Foundation, says the event is now in its third year and continues to grow because of community support.
“Indiana Fashion week is the convention of fashion professionals, fashionistas, those who want to actually be a part of the arts and support it. We do that in a fun way by doing a finale fashion show and activities throughout the week to activate fashion and community,” Ferguson said.
Ferguson says Indiana Fashion Week actually grew stronger from the coronavirus pandemic.
“We had already been doing virtual events and so we just switched to that model because we have a lot of creatives that know how to use technology,” Ferguson said. “We also partnered with Pittsburgh Fashion week and expanded our reach to others across the United States.”
Indiana Fashion Week features a number of exciting events, including:
- Tuesday: Youth Designer Challenge
- Wednesday: Selfie WRLD Indy Content Party
- Thursday: Fashionable Travel Downtown Tour
- Friday: “Cruella” Movie Premiere at Newfields
- Saturday: The Runway Shows
Ferguson says the young fashionistas who participated in the Youth Designer Challenge will be a part of Saturday’s runway show at the Dallara IndyCar Factory.
“They get to actually show their pieces at the finale fashion show,” Ferguson said. It’s amazing for them to be able to rip the runway in that capacity with the other showcase designers.”
Some events are open to the general public, while other events, like the Selfie WRLD Indy Content Party and Saturday’s runway shows, require a ticket.
