Indianapolis Motor Speedway announces new Hall of Fame members; also seeks to recruit 500 volunteers

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indianapolis Motor Speedway announced Tuesday its newest members of the Hall of Fame, welcoming Tim Cindric and Tony George into the class of 2023.

Cindric serves as the president of Team Penske. George is the former president and chief executive officer of the Speedway, joining his mother, grandfather, and grandmother in the Hall of Fame.

The induction ceremony is scheduled for May 26.

IMS also announced the launch of an initiative to recruit volunteers for Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Central Indiana.

The two organizations have partnered together to recruit 500 new volunteers by Indianapolis 500 race day on May 28.

Big Brothers Big Sisters suffers from a lack of mentors, mentees waiting two years on average to be matched with a mentor. More than 1400 young people in central Indiana are on Big Brothers Big Sisters’s waitlist.

Being a mentor requires a one-year commitment, meeting with their mentee from 4-6 hours a month, plus attendance of community events with their mentee.

The volunteer recruitment drive ends on May 28.
