Vincennes man arrested after high-speed chase

VINCENNES, Ind. (WISH) — A Vincennes man was arrested Thursday morning after leading an Indiana State Police trooper on a high-speed chase.

At 8 a.m. Thursday, trooper Ryan Johnson was patrolling when he attempted to stop the driver of a 2011 Chrysler minivan for driving 107 mph near the intersection of U.S. 50 and Robinson Road. That’s about 6 miles east of Vincennes.

State police say the driver, Chad Bond, 50, of Vincennes, didn’t stop and continued speeding westbound before driving south on U.S. 41.

Trooper Gary Goodman was in the area and deployed tire-deflating sticks on U.S. 41 near St. Thomas Road, which is about a mile south of Vincennes. The minivan struck the tire-deflating sticks, slowed down and eventually stopped 2 miles south on U.S. 41 near Plank Road. Bond refused to exit the vehicle after being ordered out, police say.

Troopers broke out the passenger window, gained access, and arrested the Bond without any incident.

Bond on Thursday was being held on bond at the Knox County Jail.
