Avon woman still missing, investigators urge anyone with information to come forward

AVON, Ind. (WISH) The search continues for a missing Avon woman.

Najah Ferrell was last seen at her home in the area of Dan Jones Road and County Road 100 South around 3 a.m. on March 15 when she left for work.

Now, a reward is being offered for information on her whereabouts.

On Thursday afternoon, investigators held a press conference to provide the latest developments in the case.

Surrounded by members of Najah’s family, Najah’s mother Paula Gholston urged the public to continue to help in the search for her daughter.

I urge anybody if you have any information, if you hear anything please call that number for Crime Stoppers. Help us be in a concerted effort to find my child and bring her home, said Paula Gholston, Najah’s mother.

Gholston, visibly emotional, thanked the police department for their efforts in finding her daughter.

My heart, I can’t even tell you. I don’t want any any other mother to ever ever ever deal with anything like this. Any other family really. Because I miss her, and she should be here, said Gholston.

Avon Police Department Deputy Chief of Investigations Brian Nugent led the press conference with a summarization of the information investigators have obtained up to this point in the case.

The most recent update in the case was the discovery of Ferrell’s vehicle near 86th St. and Michigan Rd. early Tuesday morning.

That location is near where Ferrell was expected to be the morning of her disappearance.

Investigators have also been focusing their efforts in that particular area to try to find anybody that may have seen something, explained Nugent.

Some of Ferrell’s belongings were found near I-65 and Lafayette Rd. on Saturday.

“We simply don’t know what kind of timeline we are looking at that these items were actually there, says Avon Police Chief Brian Nugent.

Avon Police say they have conducted more than 40 interviews since Najah was reported missing. Authorities said they are not going to take a position on a person of interest or suspects at this time.

There are still a lot of questions to be answered.

“We are not ruling a single theory out, says Nugent.

Police still haven’t found Najah’s phone, and they’re waiting on search warrants to collect more evidence.

Nugent said despite the updates and new information in the case, investigators are asking for any additional information from anyone who may have seen anything in the area of 86th St. and Michigan in order to further the investigation.

Seeds of Life, a local foster care agency is offering a $2,500 reward for information that leads to Najah’s whereabouts or her safe return.

Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers 317-262-TIPS.
