The countdown to the Indy 500 starts with the Kick Off to May

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The countdown to the Indianapolis 500 started Wednesday morning with race fans at the Kick Off to May event on Monument Circle.

Local vendors and special guests will provide activities, speeches, and more.

“The pace cars will drive up on Meridian and park where fans can take pictures and even sit inside them,” stated Lindsay Labas, 500 Festival spokesperson. “I think, for me, what is most exciting is the impact we bring to the community and the number of people who participate in all things throughout the month of May.”

Labas explained that a couple hundred people are expected to attend.

The event is from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on the south side of Monument Circle.
