The Hunchback of Notre Dame coming to Carmel

Micah Phillips, who plays Quasimodo, and Ava Roan, who plays Esmeralda, joined us along with Mr. Kyle Barker, the director, and teacher of the play “Hunchback of Notre Dame.”

Our hosts asked them three key questions about the play, including the number of students involved, who is making the costumes, and Mr. Barker’s background.

The play has about 150 students working on it, with a full cast of 72 playing multiple characters and a choir that sings for most of the show.

The large pit orchestra has only two adults playing, while the rest are all students, and the tech crew is also made up of students from the Performing Arts Department.

The play is taking place from May 11-13 at Carmel High School and features a set rented after the original La Jolla production, making it a true collaboration of talented students.

You can learn more about the play and Carmel Drama by visiting their website at carmeldrama.org.
