Three years after her death, the WWE will induct Chyna into Hall of Fame

Tampa, Fla (CNN) – Nearly three years after her death the woman once called “the ninth wonder of the world” is getting recognition from the wrestling community.

The WWE announced Joanie Laurer will be inducted into its hall of fame. Laurer, known as Chyna, will join the class of 2019 with members of D-Generation X, a team she helped found.

According to the WWE, the wrestling pioneer broke many of the gender barriers facing women in the 1990s.

She was the only undefeated women’s champion in the company’s history and also became one of the first women to compete and hold titles in the men’s wrestling division.

Laurer was found dead in her California apartment nearly three years ago. She died from what the coroner ruled an accidental drug overdose at the age of 46.
