Wednesday’s business headlines

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Here’s a look at Wednesday’s business headlines.

Change in Apple leadership

There’s a change in Apple’s leadership with an Indiana native leaving the company.

Apple’s retail leader, Angea Ahrendts, will leave the company in April.

She grew up in New Palestine and went to Ball State.

She joined Apple in spring 2014, coming over from her position as CEO of Burberry to serve as head of retail.

She oversaw the launch of the Apple Watch a few years ago, but pitching it as a luxury item didn’t work so well.

Lately, iPhone sales have been sluggish, too.

Wall Street and Lilly

Wall Street is reacting to the president’s State of the Union address.

The drug sector and providers could be the biggest losers after the Trump speech, where he pushed for containing prescription drug prices.

So, many will be watching Lilly Wednesday.

However, infrastructure stocks could be the winners though there was little detail in the speech on any infrastructure plans.

Kroger

Kroger is offering up to $1 million in grants for ideas that will help it achieve its mission to prevent food waste.

The Zero Hunger Zero Waste program aims to eliminate hunger in the communities it srves.

Applicantas are required to submit a letter of intent by March 4 detailing their ideas and solutions to prevent food waste.

Tax filing

Tax experts are recommending people file their taxes now in case the government shuts down again.

Feb. 15 is the deadline for lawmakers to reach a deal on funding the government.

The IRS said it expects to process more than $150 million individual returns for the 2018 tax year.
