Liv Morgan talks Royal Rumble, Indianapolis, and her journey to WWE Championship
WWE Women’s Champion Liv Morgan is gearing up for the Royal Rumble, one of WWE’s marquee events, which will take place at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on February 1. Morgan recently visited the city for a Colts game, where the team won against the Steelers, marking her first time attending an NFL game. “It was awesome. My first time there, and they won,” Morgan said. “It won’t be my last time in Indianapolis, especially with so many WWE events coming to the city.”
Royal Rumble: The Road to WrestleMania
Morgan explained the format of the Royal Rumble, which includes two matches—one for men and one for women—featuring 30 superstars entering the ring at timed intervals. “To win, you have to eliminate everyone else by throwing them over the top rope, with both feet hitting the ground,” she said. The last competitor standing earns a guaranteed championship match at WrestleMania.
The unpredictability of the event adds to its appeal. “You could draw number one and have to outlast everyone, or come in at number 30 with a better chance,” Morgan explained. She noted that tickets for the event are already available in pre-sale, with general sales starting Friday.
Overcoming Challenges and Embracing the Role of Champion
Morgan reflected on her 10-year journey in WWE, which has been filled with perseverance and personal growth. “It’s been a long journey of kicking, scratching, fighting, and clawing to get to where I am now,” she said. While she still experiences moments of self-doubt, Morgan credits positive habits like journaling and motivational speaking for helping her stay focused. “I’m the most confident I’ve ever been, but it’s always a work in progress.”
As champion, Morgan faces challenges from all sides, with competitors like Tiffany Stratton, Iyo Sky, and Rhea Ripley vying for her title. “Luckily, there’s enough of me to go around for everyone,” she said. Despite the pressure, Morgan remains motivated. “When people see me down, it drives me even more to get back up.”
The Role of WWE Fans
Morgan praised WWE’s passionate fan base, emphasizing the energy they bring to every event. “Everything we do in the ring is based off the crowd’s energy and reactions. We feed off of it,” she said. While fan reactions can vary depending on her role in the storyline, Morgan noted their unwavering dedication. “They’re the most important part of the show.”
WWE in Indianapolis
The Royal Rumble is the first of several major WWE events scheduled for Indianapolis in 2025, culminating in WrestleMania. Morgan encouraged fans to secure tickets early, calling the Royal Rumble a must-see event that sets the stage for WrestleMania and beyond.
“Indianapolis is going to see a lot of me,” Morgan said. “We’ll be spending a lot of time together.”
Pre-sale tickets for Royal Rumble are available now, with general sales beginning Friday. For more information, visit WWE’s official website.
