Community Link: McKenzie Center for Innovation and Technology
LAWRENCE, Ind. (WISH) — Each week in Community Link, Carolene Mays-Medley and Marco Dominguez take a look at an organization or business that is making a positive impact on the community.
The McKenzie Center for Innovation and Technology is a career center in Lawrence Township. It offers opportunities to students to start their professional careers.
Mari Swayne is the director for the center and spoke with Carolene and Marco about the center’s wide range of courses and the goals the center has for its students.
“We are very excited about having programs for every student,” said Swayne. “We have students from Lawrence North and Lawrence Central and we believe in making sure that we have something for all 5,000 students that are here in Lawrence Township. So we have everything from automotive to culinary, cosmetology, business, biomedical, engineering, culinary arts, just a plethora of courses.”
Swayne says the center’s main focus is to help students find a plan of action after high school.
