Learn how to make Shakshuka: a flavorful Middle Eastern dish with eggs cooked in a rich tomato and spice sauce.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 onion, chopped

  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp cumin

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes

  • 4 eggs

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Directions

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet and sauté onion, bell pepper, and garlic until soft.
  • Stir in cumin, paprika, and diced tomatoes. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, until the sauce thickens.
  • Make small wells in the sauce and crack the eggs into the wells.
  • Cover the pan and cook until the eggs are set but still runny.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with bread.
