‘Gr8 Comeback’: State park amphitheater to host ‘groovin” end-of-summer concert

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH)– In an effort to bring people back to downtown Indianapolis, the White River State Park and Downtown Indy Inc. are throwing an end-of-summer concert Saturday at the new amphitheater.

They call it “Groovin’ Back Downtown.”

Live, local bands Nauti Yachtys and ToyFactory are set to perform with DJ Gno through the day. The event will also feature drinks and food trucks for families to enjoy while supporting local restaurants.

Carolene Mays-Medley, executive director of White River State Park, only had a couple words to describe the bands for the people who haven’t heard the musicians play before: “They groove.”

Mays-Medley gave kudos to the park’s staff and partners for their efforts in making sure the concert with social distancing was prepared for fans to have a good time safely. “I have the best staff ever,” she said. “They have worked really hard to put this together along with Downtown Indy (Inc.). As you know, we’re all trying to get people to come back downtown and enjoy downtown again.”

The event will be from 2:30-7:30 p.m. Saturday. Tickets range from $5-$15.
