10 escape from near east side house fire
Several people escaped from a near east side house fire Tuesday morning.
The fire occurred at a residence in 200 block of North Randolph Street at approximately 4:15 a.m.
According to the Indianapolis Fire Department, there were 10 people, including two children, 11 months and 2-years-old, inside the house at the time of the fire.
IFD says all 10 were able to evacuate the residence unharmed.
A grease fire on the stove is the suspected cause of the flames.
An adult was up, preparing to leave for work when they discovered the fire. He attempted to put out teh flames but was unsuccessful as the fire grew out of control. However, he was able to alert everyone in the house.
Damage has been estimated at $85,000.
