2 killed in Hamilton County crash

HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – Two people are dead following a Friday evening crash in Hamilton County.

According to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the 26600 block of US 31 SB just after 11 p.m. for a vehicle in a field.

Deputies say their early investigation indicates that a red 2005 Chevy Colbalt was headed south on US 31, just north of 266th Street when it left the roadway, heading to the right as it struck a tree. It’s unclear why the vehicle exited the roadway.

Deputies say the driver, 23-year-old Coltin Heath-Brumfiel, was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. The passenger, 25-year-old Meghann Clement, was trapped in the vehicle as a result of the crash.

Both Heath-Brumfiel and Clement were pronounced dead on scene.

Deputies say that witnesses told them that the Colbalt, as it changed lanes, began fishtailing prior to leaving the roadway and striking the tree.

The deadly accident remains under investigation.
