52-year-old woman charged with July murder of 53-year-old man

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A 52-year-old Indianapolis woman has been charged with the July murder of a 53-year-old man, police said Monday.

Vickie Harper was formally charged Friday in Marion Superior Court, Criminal Division 1, online court records said.

A woman called 911 about 5:15 a.m. July 9 from a home in the 600 block of Luett Avenue to say she shot her boyfriend, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said. That’s just northeast of Holt and West Michigan roads on the city’s west side. Jerry Ethridge died a short time after paramedics arrived. Police said the woman voluntarily surrendered to officers.

IMPD said Monday its homicide detectives worked with other IMPD investigative units on the investigation. Indianapolis Marion County Crime Lab along with the Indiana State Police crime lab processed evidence for over nine months.

A jury trial was set for June for Harper. She remained in the Marion County Jail on Monday.
