Ben Asaykwee performs song ‘Scary Scary’

Indianapolis artist and storyteller, Ben Asaykwee, performs an original song from his Halloween production, “Scary Scary,” at the Athenaeum. This spooky show is scheduled to run from Oct. 26- Nov. 4, and tickets are available for purchase on the Athenaeum’s website.

The show Asaykwee is doing for Storytelling Arts of Indiana (SAI) is “Spine-Tingling Tales & Tunes” at Phoenix Theatre Oct. 29-30. He will emcee between storytellers who will be telling ghost stories. Since its establishment in 1988, SAI has been committed to promoting the art of storytelling by creating inclusive platforms where Hoosiers can both listen to and share stories. The organization achieves this by showcasing talented storytellers who captivate diverse audiences.

SAI’s programming is a year-round affair, encompassing a wide array of initiatives. These include public performances, the As I Recall storytelling guilds, weekly storytelling sessions at local children’s hospitals, summer storytelling performances at day camps, the Indy Story Slam, the Life Stories Project, and Two Truths and a Lie events held at various Indiana State Parks and the Indiana State Fair.

In essence, SAI serves as a vital conduit for fostering a strong storytelling community in the state, allowing individuals of all backgrounds to come together and appreciate the art of storytelling.
