Antonia Bennett and Anne Marie Chastain joined us to discuss the upcoming Carmel Jazz Festival.

Antonia Bennett, a renowned jazz singer and daughter of Tony Bennett, will perform with the Carmel Symphony Orchestra on opening night, Friday, August 9, at 8:00 p.m. at the Palladium.

The concert celebrates Duke Ellington’s 125th birthday and the 100th anniversary of “Rhapsody in Blue.” Antonia reflected on performing with the orchestra and opening for her father worldwide. She also shared insights about her new single, “Right on Time,” and future projects. The New York Times describes her voice as “Billie Holiday meets Diana Krall.”

Growing up in Los Angeles, surrounded by vocal legends like Rosemary Clooney and Ella Fitzgerald, Antonia pursued her passion for music at Berklee College of Music in Boston.

Her career began in New York City, opening for her father at venues like Radio City Music Hall and the Hollywood Bowl. In 2008, she recorded “I’ve Got My Love to Keep Me Warm” with her father and released her EP, “Natural,” in 2010, followed by her debut album, “Embrace Me.”

Anne Marie Chastain, Executive Director of the Carmel Symphony Orchestra, expressed excitement about the collaboration, emphasizing the orchestra’s commitment to high-quality musical experiences and celebrating jazz legends.
