Arrest made in connection with Sunday homicide in Terre Haute

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – Officials report an arrest has been made in connection with the homicide investigation that started Sunday morning at a house on N. 24th Street.

Terre Haute Police Chief Shawn Keen reports officers were called to 2353 N. 24th Street around 7 a.m. on Sunday to assist the fire department with a structure fire.

The case became a homicide investigation when a female body was located.

On Monday morning during a press conference at the police department, Chief Keen reported Larry Paul Prouse III, 33, had been taken into custody around 2 a.m.

Officials report the victim was found Sunday morning in a fire pit under debris and wood. The victim was unrecognizable, but they do know the victim is a female.

Chief Keen reported the female victim had been stabbed repeatedly, with no explanation.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday. Prouse III is preliminary charged with murder and arson.
