Avon police find vehicle belonging to missing woman

AVON, Ind. (WISH) — Police in Avon are continuing the search for a missing woman.

Early Tuesday morning, the Avon Police Department discovered a vehicle belonging to Najah Ferrell. Ferrell was last seen at her home in the area of Dan Jones Road and County Road 100 South around 3 a.m. March 15.

The vehicle was discovered near 86th Street and Michigan Road by an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Officer around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Police had previously found personal property belonging to Farrell near I-465 and Lafayette Road. On Tuesday afternoon, police are planning an aerial search of this area.

Avon Police did not respond to a request for comment on that search. News 8 went out to that area Tuesday afternoon, but it didn’t appear anything was happening at the time.

Meanwhile, at the Preserve of Avon apartment complex, where Ferrell lives, her neighbors were following the developments.

That didn’t take away any of the shock.

Such a safe neighborhood. something like that we never even thought would happen, said Michelle Smith.

Her daughter, Heaven Evans, said she was up around the time Ferrell was last seen at the apartment complex.

It’s just strange, she said.

Christopher Monroe also lives at the apartment complex. He did not recognize a photo of Ferrell.

I’d be praying for her and her family because the support they need when it comes to their heart, their peace of mind right now, he said.

Anyone with any information about Najah Ferrell, please call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana of 317-262-8477.
