Bishop Chatard grad arrested after school staff receives threats
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A Bishop Chatard High School leader said Tuesday afternoon that a former student has been arrested in connection to threats that led to an e-learning day for current students.
Bill Sahm, president of the school, said in an email to parents that the threat was believed to be from the same person who was questioned by Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department last week for a “lower-level threat.”
Sahm and an IMPD spokesman confirmed Hunter Woolever, 20, Indianapolis, has been taken into custody. IMPD said he will be charged in relation to the threats at Bishop Chatard. A 2017 graduate of the school, Woolever was also arrested March 18 with leaving the scene of an accident, booked into Marion County Jail and later released on his own recognizance. He was questioned then about the first social media threat against the school.
Sahm told News 8 the threats did name specific people but would not go into detail. News 8 later learned the threats were against staff members.
Bishop Chatard will have classes as usual on Wednesday, the email said. After-school activities for Tuesday remain canceled.
The school also had an e-learning day last Tuesday, March 19, after threats were reported. The north-side school is off Kessler Boulevard East Drive a few blocks west of Keystone Avenue.

“We will continue to address particular circumstances as they present themselves per the security plan we have in place, keeping the safety and security of our students, faculty and staff as a major priority,” said the email from Sahm. “We will be talking with students during the school day, and tomorrow (Wednesday) evening at 7 p.m. we will be hosting a parent meeting in the main gym to share with you the timeline of events, any new information that we have, and to present the security plan moving forward.”
