INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Two people were sent to hospitals after a Monday morning truck-car crash that resulted in the collapse of a multistory building on the near-north side.

Emergency crews were sent about 11:45 p.m. Monday to the intersection of East 22nd Street and College Avenue on reports of the crash and a structure collapse.

A flatbed pickup truck with five people struck a car with one occupant, the Indianapolis Fire Department said. One person in the truck was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital, and the car’s occupant was taken to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital. A news release from IFD did not provide names of the people involved in the crash.

Emergency crews searched the building and found no one inside, the department said.

Jason Kistler, a media relations representative with the fire department, said city representatives were on scene to discuss the emergency demolition of the damaged structure.

RealtyTrac.com says the building at 2201 N. College Ave. was a store built in 1908.
