Colts, Pacers, Riley Children’s Foundation team up for blood drive

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Indiana Blood Center is celebrating World Blood Donor Day on Monday, June 15.

The blood drive will feel more like a celebration filling Monument Circle with four bloodmobiles featuring the Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers, Riley Children’s Foundation, and the new campaign “I Pledge. I Commit” for Indiana Blood Center.

Indiana Blood Center staff says they must see 550 donors every day, just to meet the need in our state. Currently, only about 1 in 4 eligible blood donors donate.

Everything kicks off at Monument Circle at 10:30 a.m. and continues until 1:30 p.m. That gives a perfect opportunity for those working nearby to come on their lunch break and Papa John’s will be giving away slices of pizza while supplies last.

Also, Colts and Pacers mascots Freddy and Blue will be appearing from noon until 1 p.m. and the Pacemates and Colts Cheerleaders will be on the circle from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Before the blood drive, Indiana Blood Center staff say the bloodmobiles will be taking off from Monument Cricle to travel throughout the city visiting several businesses including Lids, Allison Transmission, and Angie’s List before heading back to the Circle.
