Columbus firefighters, DNR officer rescue deer on icy pond
COLUMBUS, Ind. (WISH) — Firefighters in Columbus worked with conservation officers to save a deer who found itself stuck on ice over the weekend.
It happened Saturday morning on the city’s west side.
According to firefighters, a homeowner notified them of a deer sitting on the ice.
Firefighters used the department’s drone to get a better look at the situation.
The department said two firefighters used a lasso to help the deer get to safety.
Conservation officers at the scene said the deer looked exhausted, but healthy.
The Columbus Fire Department reminds people to never attempt to save an animal from ice and call 911 if you spot an animal who needs help.
