Columbus police arrest burglary suspect; police searching for second suspect

COLUMBUS, Ind. (WISH) – The Columbus Police Department arrested a man for breaking into a north side Columbus business Sunday night.

According to police, officers were to the Rural King located at 2985 North National Road after an alarm went off at the store.

When officers arrived, they heard the sound of a saw cutting into the building.

Soon after, the suspects saw the officers and went back into the building. A few minutes later, one of the suspects, Jeremy Vanatwerp, 34 of Columbus, was arrested by officers after he fled from the business.

Police are still searching for the second burglary suspect.

Vanantwerp was transported to the Bartholomew County jail on a preliminary charge of burglary.
