Hamilton Southeastern school building closes Monday after 5 teachers test positive

FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) — A Hamilton Southeastern school building where teachers have been reporting to conduct virtual learning closed for deep cleaning Monday after five teachers tested positive for coronavirus and 10 others were told to quarantine.

Hamilton Intermediate/Junior High School is expected to reopen Tuesday and teachers who were not among those in close contact will be allowed to return, the district said.

The district is conducting classes virtually as part of Phase 1 of its reopening. All teachers had been reporting to their classrooms to work. Virtual classes won’t be affected by the positive cases, the district said.

HSE has also been providing supervised virtual learning for children of staff members in grades K-6.

The district said some students had been in the building, but were not there on Monday and they’re not aware of any of those students who’ve had to quarantine as a result. The permanent substitute teachers who supervise the staff’s children were not affected, either, the district said.
