Coroner IDs victim in fatal shooting on city’s west side as 19-year-old man

UPDATE: The Marion County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a Wednesday night shooting as a 19-year-old man.

The coroner says Rayshawn McIntosh, 19, died from multiple gunshot wounds on Wednesday.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department did not have suspect information immediately available but officers believe the shooting was not random.

No other details have been released.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Metro police are investigating after a man was killed in a shooting on the city’s west side.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called around 7:20 p.m. Wednesday on reports of a person shot in the 3200 block of Merrick Lane. That’s in The Woods at Oak Crossing apartments, just southwest of the I-65 overpass for West Kessler Boulevard North Drive.

Officers arrived to find the man lying in the grass in the apartments’ common area. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Initial information gathered at the scene led detectives to believe the incident was not a random act.

It was not immediately clear what led to the shooting.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office will release the name of the man once his next-of-kin are notified, police said.
