18-year-old man found dead in field on city’s northeast side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The death of an 18-year-old man is being investigated as a homicide after he was found unresponsive in a field on the city’s northeast side overnight.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to reports of a disturbance around 1:35 a.m. Sept. 20 in the area of 7900 Red Mill Drive. That’s near North Franklin Road and East 38th Street on the city’s northeast side.

June Stewart died from gunshot, according to a 2020 IMPD homicide list released Friday.

When officers arrived to the scene they found Stewart unresponsive in a field. Investigators learned he had suffered injuries consistent with a gunshot wound.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene, and homicide investigators collected evidence. The list said the case remained unsolved Friday.
