ANDERSON, Ind. (WISH) — An Anderson woman is facing a child neglect charge after a 2-year-old girl in her care was found to have multiple broken bones, according to court documents.

Kaylah M. Ball, 25, was formally charged Sept. 21 with neglect of a dependent/child violations. Court documents in the case were shared publicly this week.

An Elwood Police Department sergeant investigated the case after it was initially investigated by Anderson Police Department. The crime is believed to have happened in Elwood.

The girl was taken to Community Hospital Anderson on June 28 with injuries and possibly puking blood, according to witnesses in the court documents. Injuries to the girl were so severe that she was later moved to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.

A doctor with the Indiana Department of Child Services determined the girl had multiple broken bones, bruising on her face, back and ribs, and other injuries.

The police sergeant said in court documents that Ball told multiple different stories about how the girl got the bruises. Ball had told relatives that the baby had rolled off the bed, according to court documents.

Ball posted bond, set at $20,000, after being jailed in Madison County, according to online jail records and an online court docket. Ball’s case is set for a dispositional/trial setting hearing at 10 a.m. Nov. 29.
