INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A fight in the street between a male and female left him dead and her as a homicide suspect, police said Tuesday night.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department says its officers found a victim in the 2900 block of Clifton Street. That’s a residential area a few blocks southwest of the I-65 interchange for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street on the near-northwest side.

A media notification from IMPD did not say what time or day the incident was reported.

The male was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital, where he died, IMPD said.

IMPD said it’s the 230th criminal homicide of 2021, said Capt. Kimberly Young with the IMPD northwest district. In 2020, Indianapolis had a record 245 homicides.

No additional information was immediately available from IMPD.
