INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Indianapolis State Police have arrested an 18-year-old Indianapolis man in connection with a shooting incident on I-70 westbound in Morgan County.

On Thursday, June 27, ISP received reports of a shooting on I-70, west of State Road 39. When troopers arrived on scene, they reported that the victim’s vehicle showed signs of gunfire damage, but the driver was not injured.

State police detectives quickly identified the suspect, Dean Watson, and his vehicle. Their investigation led to a series of search warrants, uncovering further evidence.

On Monday, detectives arrested Watson after following him from an Indianapolis residence to a gas station. Watson was taken into custody at the gas station, and a loaded handgun was found during a pat-down. He was then taken to the Indianapolis state police post for questioning before being transported to the Morgan County Jail, where he was booked on a preliminary charge of attempted murder.

The following day, detectives obtained a search warrant for the vehicle Watson was driving. The search revealed a large amount of marijuana, vape pen cartridges, an additional firearm, and ammunition.

The Morgan County Prosecutor will review the case to determine the final charges.
