Inmate on work release charged with theft of voting equipment

ANDERSON, Ind. (WISH) — An inmate on work-release who had volunteered to help set up a voting site faces a misdemeanor charge of theft after being found with a personal electronic ballot and a memory card from election equipment.

Tyler Sink, 26, was charged Thursday, state police said in a news release.

An employee at the Madison County Community Justice Center contacted state police Monday stating that Madison County election equipment had been located in Sink’s personal belongings.

A state police investigation determined that Sink’s recent volunteering to help with voting site setup had given him access to the equipment.

On Thursday, the alleged thefts remained under investigation.
