16-year-old boy arrested in his uncle’s murder in Beech Grove

BEECH GROVE, Ind. (WISH) — Police say a 16-year-old boy has been arrested in the fatal Sunday shooting of his uncle in Beech Grove.

Officers were called to the 100 block of Diplomat Court around 10:20 a.m. Sunday on reports of a person shot. That’s at an apartment complex near Churchman and Emerson avenues.

Beech Grove Police Capt. Bob Mercuri on Sunday night identified the victim as Devon Ford, 28. He said Ford had lived at the apartment complex for about three years.

The juvenile, who was not named, faces a preliminary charge of murder. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will make a final charging decision in the case.
